Student Counseling and Placement
The College has a placement cell managed by senior faculty. Wide publicity is given whenever various organizations approach the University for their requirement of graduates. All possible help is extended to graduates to find a suitable job, and campus interviews are arranged whenever required by the organizations.
The main activities of the Placement Cell include:
- Creating a database of alumni seeking jobs.
- Creating a database of probable recruiters in both the government and private sectors.
- Creating a database of distinguished alumni who have contributed significantly to society.
- Organizing campus interviews for the recruitment of graduates and postgraduates by potential employers.
- Notifying students of job requests from private organizations and advertisements requiring fisheries graduates.
- Providing guidance to students for skill improvement through trainings on personality development, communication, mock group discussions, and preparation for competitive exams like ARS/fellowships/civil services.
- Managing the Project Planning and Monitoring Cell (PPMC) and the National Information System and Agricultural Network (NISAGENET).

Placement Statistics:
The Placement and Career Guidance cell of the College of Fisheries, Mangalore, was established to act as a liaison between students and recruiting agencies. Known for its well-established infrastructure and quality education, the college’s alumni have spread all over the country and made their mark both in India and abroad.
- Since 2005-06, the placement cell has facilitated the employment of about 10 students in the private sector, including feed companies, hatcheries, and processing industries.
- Since 2005, 84 Fisheries Graduates have been appointed as Asst. Director of Fisheries in the Dept. of Fisheries, Govt. of Karnataka.
- A total of 4 M.F.Sc. graduates have joined the prestigious Agriculture Research Service of ICAR.
